What to wear!

Tips and guidelines for a great looking photo session

General recommendations - the 4 C's

- Comfortable. If you dont feel good in the clothes, it'll read in the photos so wear something you won't be tugging at or worried about.  It's ok to wear a new special outfit but wear it at least once before the session so you know how it feels and lays on your body.

- Clean. Refers to the clothes obviously being washed and clean but moreso to the general aesthetic; I recommend against anything with big logos, words, characters, crazy patterns, crazy colors, or tons of flourishes like bows, strings or ties.  Less is more!

- Classic. Similar to Clean but I recommend any outfits be flattering, simple, and not overly trendy or flashy.  You'll hopefully be looking at these photos for years to come and if everyone looks super trendy the photos will become dated more quickly.  Classic and simple is best!

- Complimentary.  I advise against my families all wearing matching or super similar outfits.  Definitely avoid all wearing the same pants and same colored shirt.  I want to see your personalities!  But I do think it looks nice when your outfits are all complimentary and an easy way to do that is to stay within a color family.  For example, everyone wears shades of blue and green, or yellow and navy, or one solid color and small patterns, etc.  I also recommend making sure it looks like you're all going to the same party - if one person wears jeans and a Tshirt and someone else wears a long fancy dress the group won't look cohesive. Have fun but keep it tight.

and finally - style Mom (or the most invested parent or caregiver) first, and base the outfits of the other partner and children off of the primary outfit.

Winter

This season is all about home, family, and celebration.

Your look could be warm and cozy with the option for sparkle and a fancy touch for the holidays. Classic holiday colors of deep reds, greens, and blues are often represented.

Spring

This season is about growth, new beginnings, and the return of the light.

Your look could be fresh, fun and light. I love pastels and floral patterns if that's your vibe.

Summer

This season is about hot weather and sunshine, vacation, and long lazy days.

Your look could be colorful, breezy, and punchy. Clients often gravitate towards crisp whites and shades of blue.

Autumn

Everyone's favorite time of year in New England!

You already know - flannel, chunky knits, jewel tones, layers, and plenty of accessories.  Think a pumpkin spice latte but as an outfit :)

In Home Sessions

Cozy. Comfy. Simple.

Like a slow Sunday morning but you showered and put on make-up! Jeans and a T, your fav cardigan, and definitely no shoes.
